WSJ: U.S. Will Surpass Russia as World’s Largest Oil and Gas Producer

In July, the U.S. produced about 22 million barrels per day of oil and gas, while Russia is on a pace to produce 21.8 million barrels per day in 2013. Thanks to hydraulic fracturing, the U.S. is poised to overtake Russia as the world’s largest producer of oil and gas. According to the Energy Information Agency, “fracking” has resulted in the U.S. producing 14% more of its own energy compared to 8 years ago. Because of this, the DOE is now exploring the construction at least two-dozen LNG export terminals.
