Herschel Seder, longtime Chairman and President of former VMA member Milwaukee Valve, died Saturday, March 1, at age of 95.
The son of a Russian immigrant, Herschel Seder graduated from Johns Hopkins in 1939 with a degree in economics and purchased Milwaukee Valve Company in 1959 with is partner Max Koenigsberg. The two men ran the company for the next 40 years.
Along with his wife, Ruth Altschuler Seder, who is now deceased, the Seders became active in Chicago philanthropy while they raised their four children, Robert, John, Jim and Diane.
"There basically was four F's," said Robert Seder, Herschel’s youngest son. "Family, food, philanthropy, financial stuff."
