During the past few years, Valve Magazine has published a series of articles in its “Back to Basics” educational series designed to provide entry-level education to the many new employees who work in the industries that use and manufacture valves, actuators and controls. The series has attracted considerable attention from readers and repeated requests for reprints of select articles. As a result, the Valve Manufacturers Association has gathered the articles that have appeared in the magazine from 2004 through 2009, and is making that compilation available for sale.
The 80-page, full-color book is spiral-bound and features 17 articles, each with a focus toward those who are new to the valve business or who wish to learn more about the various products that are used in the flow control industry. The Back to Basics compilation begins with an overview of basic valve types, a materials primer and valve specifying guidelines, and then covers a wide range of product types including: gate, globe, check, pressure-seal, plug, hydrant, ball, butterfly, diaphragm and pinch, safety-relief, and control valves and systems, along with fundamentals and selection of electric actuators.
The compilation is available for $79 ($69 for VMA/VRC members) + $3.50 shipping/handling. Go to VMA.org > VMA Store to order the Back to Basics compilation or click here.
