Characterized by simplicity of design, low energy usage and the innovative Wedgetorque® operator, Pacific Wedgeplug valves from Crane are specifically engineered to address the challenges in severe service applications. Now available in ½” to 36” sizes, the range has been expanded to increase the breadth of solutions for customers in the refining, petrochemical and power generation industries. The valve’s unique design offers users a number of benefits, including:
- Increased Return on Investment: When not actuating, Pacific Wedgeplug consumes no steam, resulting in industry-leading low steam usage and DCU operational savings of more than $150,000 per year.
- Easy TAR Servicing: With inline decoking and service, the valve body stays in the piping system to deliver a shorter TAR schedule and lower trade costs.
- Enhanced Safety: A single valve offers double block-and-bleed capability, reducing upstream and downstream concerns and enabling users to purge and gauge the valve body for safety permissives.
Pacific Wedgeplug valves are designed to ASME B16.34, API Standard 599 and API Standard 600, latest edition, where applicable. Testing is to API Standard 598, latest edition. Special hydrostatic testing and non-destructive examinations are available.

The QuadroSphere® Ball is not a typical ball design. Surfaces of the ball that are non-essential to sealing have been recessed in all 4 quadrants. The surfaces of the ball that have been recessed create additional flow paths allowing the flow and particulates to move freely above, below and around the sides of the ball when moving from closed to open position. Seat ring contact to the ball has minimal contact area, which reduces wear and operating torques, due to less friction. The recessed surfaces on the ball also provide lipped edges that wipe the seat surfaces clean during opening and closing to avoid particulate buildup. The ball has two sets of seating surfaces to provide shut off in the fully closed position and protect the seats in the fully open position.

Garlock has recently made their original line of butterfly valves available in the U.S. The line includes four valve designs used with corrosive and abrasive media and a wide range of accessories. The Garlock family of companies created the original PTFE lined butterfly valve design, which has long been used for high-volume flow management and shut-off applications in the chemical and petrochemical processing industries, and in other markets where caustic, toxic and abrasive media must be controlled.
All four Garlock butterfly valves feature a new ultra-low fugitive emission design, compliant with ISO 15848-1 Leakage Rate A, as-well-as TA-Luft, and are certified as suitable for use in an SIL 3 environment.
The Garlock butterfly valve line is offered with a wide range of accessories, including standard handles, locking handles, gear operators and air actuators. Standard handles are available from 2” to 8”, locking handle assemblies are offered from 2” to 4”, and both gear operators and air actuators are offered in all dimensions.
