The Industrial Leaders Group (ILG), publisher of the manufacturing and engineering news portal IndustrialPR, announced this morning to the media the debut of its new international Industrial Water Treatment Equipment directory and buying guide. The company reported the publication includes a wide range of wastewater treatment systems and supplies for the industrial marketplace.

States Consider Gas and Oil Levies

Cash-strapped states are considering raising taxes on oil production to plug yawning budget gaps, but they face strong resistance from oil companies, which warn the moves could lead to lost jobs and higher energy prices.

 

Lawmakers in Pennsylvania and California have proposed what are known as severance taxes on oil and natural gas produced in their states. A tax increase took effect in Arkansas at the beginning of the year, and Alaska last year raised its oil-production tax.

North American Chemical Industry Prepares for Third-Quarter Construction Starts

As we inch closer to starting the second half of the year, the North American Chemical Processing Industry (CPI) acknowledges that construction starts are expected to be much lower during the third quarter than they were last year. Based on active projects currently being tracked as part of Industrial Info's North American Project Database an estimated 250 capital and maintenance projects are expected to begin construction during the third quarter of this year with a value estimated at just more than $1 billion.
