Group Asking Feds to Halt LNG Exports

The Industrial Energy Consumers of America recently sent a letter to the Secretary of Energy on two LNG export demand scenarios. They argue that the Obama Administration’s “public interest” LNG export studies, which are still being used to justify LNG export approvals to non-free trade agreement (NFTA) countries, did not consider the “cumulative” export volume to FTA and NFTA countries and how it could contribute to consumption of vast amounts of U.S. natural resources nor its economic impact. Demand scenarios demonstrate that 58-71% of all U.S. natural gas resources could be consumed by 2050.
