Construction of Mountain Valley Pipeline Halted

A project-wide stop work order was issued by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) for the Mountain Valley Pipeline, related to the adequacy of permits issued by the U.S. Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management (BLM) granting a 3.5-mile right-of-way in the Jefferson National Forest for the project. The right-of-way permits in question affect only approximately 1% of the pipeline’s overall 303-mile project route. The two agencies agreed that a report on the environmental impact on the forest was incomplete.
