In 1962, a young Ken Chickering supported his love of flying by buying and selling planes on the side while working as a petroleum engineer in Mississippi. It must have been fate that just about the time he was ready for a move to Houston, General Valve was looking for a sales engineer. Issues in Leak Detection

To pinpoint leak location and isolate areas of a pipeline for leak repair, utilities managers need to know valve locations, how valves operate and the condition of those valves. Leak detection equipment traditionally provides information only about the current state of the pipe with no information on the overall condition of the infrastructure, but advancements in acoustic leak detection and pipe condition assessment methods now help utilities to cost-effectively and efficiently find these leaks. MORE

Picking the Right Flowmeter

What goes into finding an appropriate flowmeter for your application? While the first cuts should be clear depending on the material—liquid, solid or gas—flowing through the system, there are several other factors. Price, temperature, pressure, chemical compatibility and abrasion resistance are just a few of the features to be taken into consideration to avoid over-engineering or under-engineering the application.
