Recycling Fracking Wastewater

A mobile system is now able to recycle fracking wastewater using chemical coagulant along with dissolved air floatation. This system takes the contaminated flow-back water created by the fracking process, eliminates nearly all of the suspended solids and kills about 99% of the bacteria, producing onsite reusable frack water. This process conserves water and can create a meaningful economic savings to oil and gas operators.  MORE

Fire Protection for Actuators

Minimizing the danger of fire in refineries, gas processing, petrochemical and other facilities requires efficiently protecting the systems that control the potentially hazardous areas of those facilities. Many actuator manufacturers and suppliers offer a range of fireproofing recommendations suitable for their actuators, methods that usually provide flexibility and are designed to allow actuators to continue operating for a significant period of time in fire temperatures of over 1800°F (982°C).

Valve Educational Opportunities Abound in 2014

This year VMA is offering several events open to all in the industry. In addition to the Technical Seminar and Valve Basics Seminars, the association's line-up of meetings also includes a valve repair-focused meeting.

The Technical Seminar & Exhibit takes place in Las Vegas, March 5-7, and will cover topics related to fugitive emissions. It is designed for mid- to senior-level managers, including engineers and technical personnel. April  2-3 brings the first of two opportunities to attend the Valve Basics Seminar & Exhibit, where attendees will take Valves, Actuators & Controls 101 and receive hands-on training via the "Valve Petting Zoo." Also, 12 educational credits will be awarded. The event takes place in Kansas City, and will be repeated in Las Vegas, Oct. 30-31.

June 5-6 in Houston is the site of the Valve Repair Seminar & Exhibits, typically held every other year. Subjects of interest to those involved in valve repair, maintenance and operations will be presented at this event.
