VMA Technical Seminar Set for March 9-11

Speakers at the 2016 VMA Technical Seminar at Harrah’s New Orleans next March will focus their thoughts and comments on safety and the environment. Douglas Morris, chief of Offshore Regulatory Programs for BSEE, leads off the conference with a keynote address on issues his agency currently faces. His remarks will be followed by a line-up of industry and regulatory experts who will talk about modern safety management, what role valves play in environment risk assessments, how safety and the environment are affecting valve selection, what specific industries such as oil and gas face, safety issues such as seismic events, the latest developments in fugitive emissions, and specific technological challenges of today’s valves and actuators.

This annual event also includes a tour of the NASA Michoud Assembly facility and tabletop exhibits. MORE

The Challenges of Offshore Valve Applications

Our "Where Valves are Used" feature addresses the valves in pipelines designed for offshore oil platforms and drill ships. These pipelines are packed with piping that must include safety systems, fire suppression, ballast regulation and oil production systems so the valves used in the process face a unique set of challenges.

From the Fall 2015 issue…

Hazards in Chlorine Piping

Piping chlorine to the many industrial processes that depend on it for making this nation’s chemicals carries a level of risk. Fall’s issue of VALVE explains how and why one of these solutions, bellows seal metal-seated globe valves, works to mitigate that risk. MORE
