Valve Repair Specialists Enjoy a Variety of Educational Sessions

Among the many lessons attendees learned during the Valve Repair Meeting, Tour & Exhibits earlier this month were that the 2017 National Board Inspection Code has been arranged into four parts, new American Petroleum Institute standards have been created for bolting, and new non-destructive test methods are in use to ensure bolting materials are what they are claimed to be.

Valve repair and rebuild specialists from around the country came to Houston to learn the latest on what’s happening in their industry, to tour several local facilities and to see an exhibit of products and services to the industry. MORE

From Cannon Balls to Pressure Seals: Graphite for Sealing

Structurally, flexible graphite far exceeds the temperature and pressure requirements for pressure seal applications. Unlike with metal seals, no re-machining of the valve surface after removal is done. In fact, flexible graphite hides most imperfections left when replacing metal seals, and the properties that come from making flexible graphite mean this material is a good choice for fluid sealing applications. MORE
