First Profibus Competence Centre Set up in Australia by Tyco Flow Control Pacific

Tyco Flow Control Pacific has been accredited by Profibus International as the first Profibus International Competence Centre (PICC) in Australia. Profibus dominates all sectors of industrial automation.

Nick Smith, Tyco Flow Control Pacific’s Manager and Manager of the PICC, explains that it is a stringent accreditation process and Tyco Flow Control Pacific have worked hard to meet all the criteria.

ITT Names Gretchen McClain President of ITT Fluid and Motion Control

ITT Corp. named Gretchen McClain to the newly created position of president of ITT Fluid and Motion Control. McClain, 46, was previously president of ITT Fluid Technology, a position she has held since March of 2007.

In her new role as president of ITT Fluid and Motion Control, Gretchen McClain will oversee all of ITT's commercial businesses, including those in the Fluid Technology and Motion & Flow Control segments.

Flowserve Quick Response Center Opens in Bangalore, India

Flowserve Corp. announces the opening of its newest Quick Response Center (QRC) located in Bangalore, India.

The QRC is part of Flowserve's growing network of aftermarket service centers around the world. Located at Flowserve’s existing Bangalore facility, the 4000 sq. ft. QRC will manufacture and service Flowserve Limitorque actuators for the petrochemical and power industry in India. Flowserve has maintained a local presence in the country since 1997.

Parker Acquires Brazilian Manufacturer of Connectors and Instrumentation Products

Parker Hannifin has acquired Detroit Plasticos e Metais S/A (Detroit) of Sao Paulo, Brazil, a manufacturer of high performance fittings, valves, manifolds, and thermoplastic tubing. Detroit's products are used throughout Latin America in oil and gas, petrochemical, pulp and paper, mining, transportation, steel, construction and agricultural markets.

Gas Leak in India Leaves 13 Unconscious

Less than 12 hours after a worker died at Rourkela Steel Plant, 13 employees were left unconscious after a carbon monoxide leak from captive power plant-I.

Six of them — being administered oxygen at the ICU at Ispat General Hospital — are critical but out of danger, deputy superintendent of police R.K. Panda said.
