Emerson Modernizing Controls at Istanbul Power Plant

Emerson has been selected to retrofit outdated controls at the Elektrik Uretim A.S. (EÜAS) Ambarli A combined-cycle power plant in Istanbul, Turkey. The contract was awarded by TEMSAN, the government-owned organization leading the project.

Ambarli A consists of three, 450-MW power blocks, each in a 2x2x1 configuration, with a total generating capacity of 1,350 MW. Emerson will provide engineering, design, installation, commissioning and startup services. The project is expected to be completed by March 31, 2018. 

Mueller Water Products Announces Strategic Reorganization, Restructuring

Mueller Water Products, Inc. is undergoing a strategic reorganization plan. The plan re-configures the company’s divisional structure around products, with five business teams that have line and cross-functional responsibility for managing distinct product portfolios.

The company will continue to report its financial performance based on two reportable segments – Infrastructure (previously identified as Mueller Co.) and Technologies (previously reported as Mueller Technologies). The components of these two segments have not changed.

Additionally, Evan Hart, senior vice president and CFO, will retire as of December 31, 2017. Marietta Edmunds Zakas, who currently serves as senior vice president, strategy, corporate development, HR and communications, will take over as CFO immediately following Hart’s retirement. 

Union Tech Added to ExxonMobil Approved Manufacturers List

Union Tech Co., LLC was added to the latest edition of the ExxonMobil Piping Approved Manufacturers List and will be listed under category 7.4 (PI 608 / ASME B16.34 – Metal Seated, Floating Ball) in the ball valve section.

Prior to February 2017, Union Tech supplied ExxonMobil, as well as other companies, with severe service metal seated ball valves (MSBV) as the OEM for the “PBV-UT” brand. The products are now directly available from Union Tech under the Z-Series valve product line, consisting of both severe service MSBVs and rising-stem ball valves. 

Curtiss-Wright Awarded Contract for Naval Platforms

Curtiss-Wright Corporation has been awarded a contract valued in excess of $49 million to provide valves for the U.S. Navy’s Virginia-class submarines and Ford-class aircraft carriers. The award was received from Bechtel Plant Machinery, Inc. to support ship construction and spare parts procurement. The contract includes FY17 orders for two ship sets of submarine propulsion plant valves and a FY17 order for aircraft carrier propulsion plant valves.

Curtiss-Wright is performing the work at its facility in East Farmingdale, NY, a business unit of Curtiss-Wright’s Industrial division. Engineering and manufacturing has commenced and will continue through 2021. 

Allied Valve Named Consolidated Green Tag Center of the Year

The Allied Valve headquarters location in Riverdale, IA has been named the Consolidated Green Tag Center (GTC) of the Year for 2016. Each year, the award recognizes a single GTC location that demonstrates exceptional growth, innovative changes and an overall improved environment for Consolidated customers. Allied Valve was selected for 2016 because of the company’s many new initiatives focused on promoting safety and delivering an exceptional customer experience.

Allied Valve was one of the original GTC centers, receiving its first GTC designation in 1982, the same year the program began. Today, the GTC network comprises more than 80 facilities spanning 30 countries. Allied Valve operates five GTCs across the Midwest.
