Siemens Announces Acquisition of Enlighted Inc.

Siemens Building Technologies Division is acquiring Enlighted Inc., a provider of smart IoT (Internet of Things) systems in buildings, headquartered in Silicon Valley. Both parties have agreed not to disclose financial details. Closing is expected in the third quarter of 2018. Enlighted will be managed as an independent legal entity and wholly-owned subsidiary of Siemens Industry, Inc.

Enlighted makes smart sensors, securely streaming data to the cloud. In addition, the IoT platform enables reduced energy use, improved space utilization, better environmental management and greater asset utilization. 

ITT to Receive 2018 Manufacturing Leadership Award

ITT Inc. has been selected to receive the 2018 Manufacturing Leadership Award in the Visionary Leadership category. This achievement honors ITT for its leadership and positive impact on the manufacturing industry. ITT will receive the award during the Manufacturing Leadership Summit, June 11-13, 2018, in Huntington Beach, CA.

The recognition from the Manufacturing Leadership Council and Frost & Sullivan honors companies leading the manufacturing industry into the fourth industrial revolution.  

Pekka Vauramo Appointed President and CEO of Metso

Metso's board of directors has appointed Pekka Vauramo president and CEO of Metso, effective as of November 2018 at the latest. CFO Eeva Sipilä will continue to serve as Metso's interim CEO until Vauramo begins in his new role.

Vauramo has served as president and CEO of Finnair since 2013, and prior to that he held several management positions at Cargotec (2007-2013) and Sandvik (1985-2007). 

Curtiss-Wright Supporting Ford-Class Aircraft Carrier Program

Curtiss-Wright has been awarded a contract valued in excess of $85 million to provide main propulsion steam turbines and auxiliary equipment for the U.S. Navy’s Ford-class aircraft carrier Enterprise (CVN 80). The award was received from Huntington Ingalls, Newport News Shipbuilding (HII-NNS) to support planned ship construction.

This contract reflects the first award received by the Dresser-Rand government business acquired on April 2, 2018. Engineering and manufacturing will commence in 2018 and will continue through at least 2022. The products will be shipped to Newport News Shipbuilding in Virginia. 

Crane Celebrates Opening of New Plant in India

Crane ChemPharma & Energy celebrated the inauguration of its newest location, an aseptic diaphragm valve factory in Satara, India. Crane invited hundreds of customers and industry stakeholders to participate in a day-long event complete with a tour of the new plant and luncheon held on May 10, 2018. Built within the same complex as two other Crane factories, one for Saunders Industrial Diaphragm Valves and another for CentreLine Butterfly Valves, the new facility will be 100% dedicated to Saunders HC4 aseptic diaphragm valves and actuators.

In addition to touring the new plant, attendees also took part in a ground-breaking ceremony for the Crane-sponsored Maher Home for Disadvantaged Children.
