AUMA: HART Interface Advancement

Electric actuator manufacturer AUMA announces that a HART interface option can be ordered with immediate effect for the company’s AC .2 and ACExC .2 controls. The adoption of the popular communication protocol by AUMA strengthens the company’s position as a provider of a comprehensive range of leading-edge actuation solutions, with supporting technologies.

In compliance with the IEC 61158 standard, the HART (Highway Addressable Remote Transducer) communication protocol retains the simple and classic 4 – 20 mA standard signal for analogue data transmission, while allowing for digital communication modulated as an additional signal to the analogue signal.

A major advantage according to AUMA, which is a member of HCF (HART Communication Foundation), is that this facilitates reading additional parameters and diagnostic data from field devices, such as actuators, using the existing 4 – 20 mA infrastructure.

Electronic Device Descriptions (EDD) for AC. 2 controls with HART interface will be available shortly from AUMA for integration with Siemens Simatic PDM, Emerson AMS and Emerson 475 Field Communicator. Following device integration in the appropriate interpreter, the actuator and controls’ most important parameter and diagnostic information, relating to commissioning, configuration and Asset Management, are available without additional programming.

Westlock  ICoT smart valve positioner 6000 seriesWestlock Controls has released a new addition to its ICoT smart valve positioner 6000 series.

The ICoT 6000 provides easy access to wiring terminal connectors, easily accommodated large stroke valves such as knife gates and is available with an internal 3 button interface and graphical LCD visible through an explosion proof site glass for easy calibration and information display.

The positioners are now designed with strong aluminium and stainless steel enclosures and are certified explosion proof to global standards. In addition, the positioners comply with US NEC standards as well as ATEX, IEC and INMETRO certification for the rest of the world.

New Pure-Flo® Value Switch Package+ (VSP+) from ITT

itt vspITT Corporation introduces the Pure-Flo® VSP+, adding new features to the cost-effective and proven Value Switch Package (VSP) product offering.

The VSP+ incorporates a mechanical self-setting feature, which reduces calibration time. Once the switch is installed on the process valve, the operator simply strokes the actuator to set the switch. This feature will save countless hours of calibration time during diaphragm change-outs and valve commissioning.

To improve visual position indication from a distance, the VSP+ incorporates high output open, closed and power LEDs. This allows the operator to safely and quickly evaluate process status, oftentimes troubleshooting from the ground.

Capable of withstanding typical wash-down media, the VSP+ extends the capability of the standard VSP. It is packed with features that fulfill the most demanding requirements of today’s critical bioprocessing systems.

“The VSP+ addition to the Pure-Flo product line continues ITT’s effort to reduce our customers’ total cost of ownership,” said Paul McClune, Global Product Manager for ITT Engineered Valves. “The ease of calibration and high visibility position indication will directly improve maintenance efficiency and lower overall maintenance costs.”

The VSP+ is available for ½- to 2-inch (DN 15-50) valves and can be specified with mechanical silver, mechanical gold, PNP and Namur* switches. All VSP+ offerings are rated for 24V DC operation.
