Metso's Neles Control Valve Offering Extended

Metso Neles E SeriesThe portfolio of Neles® ceramic E-series control valves, recognized for being extremely erosion resistant, has now been expanded to NPS 08" (DN 200) in pressure Class 300 (PN40).

The E-series valve is the most erosion resistant control valve available. It works as an ideal solution in many energy and hydrocarbon processes, as well as in mining and minerals processing processes, where metallic materials and coatings fail due to high erosion. Catalyst handling can be a challenging application. With the E-series control valve, plant runtime can be extended and life-cycle costs minimized.

Pulp mills with capacities of up to 1.5 million tons have been able to utilize this new valve size as part of their latest process investments to meet the demand for severe control applications and to reach larger dimensions.

The Neles ceramic control valve series E2/E6 uses a field-proven design with solid ceramic trim components to cover the whole wetted flow passage.

New UT-ZM Declutchable Gear Override Offers Safer, Easier Manual Control

UniTorq UT-ZM Declutchable Gear OverrideUniTorq Actuators & Controls is pleased to announce the introduction of the New UT-ZM Declutchable Gear Override. Available in torque outputs ranging from 1,770 to 61,995 in lbs., the UT-ZM provides a safe, cost-effective solution for manual control of the valve whenever air supply or power to a pneumatic actuator is lost.

The UT-ZM is available with options that make it one of the safest to operate overrides on the market. The Isolation Safety Option provides internal porting that automatically blocks and releases air from the actuator, making operation of the gear safer and easier. The internal porting also eliminates the need to assemble extra tubing, tees, valves and fittings, making installation easier and safer.

All overrides feature a corrosion resistant housing that conforms to IP67 protection standards, sturdy die cast aluminum hand wheels, stainless steel declutch bars, and spring-loaded pins that help to lock the unit into position. For additional safety, a Padlock kit can be added to prevent unintended operation.

Colfax Enhances Smart Technology CM-1000 Series

Colfax Fluid Handling introduced an Active Valve Control option to its Smart Technology CM-1000 Series intelligent sea water cooling system controller. The CM-1000 Series with optional Active Valve Control may be applied to both new-build and retrofit operations. The CM-1000 Series is designed to enhance shipboard sea water cooling system pumping efficiency while lowering operating and maintenance costs and maximizing uptime for greener, sustainable operation. The CM-1000 Series with Active Valve Control offers potential energy savings of up to 85 percent, thus reducing a vessel’s carbon footprint. It also reduces maintenance by up to 50 percent and provides safer operation, return-on-investment and long term savings for total ownership. The CM-1000 Series with Active Valve Control utilizes sensors to monitor real-time operating conditions such as temperatures in the freshwater cooling loop, as well as the pumps’ suction and discharge pressure. The sensor signals enable the CM-1000 Series controller to regulate the flow of sea water to the coolers according to varying heat loads from the main engine and generators.

Emerson Introduces Digital Valve Controller with Stainless Steel Housing for Corrosive Environments

Emerson DVC6200 stainlesssteelEmerson’s Fisher FIELDVUE DVC6200 digital valve controller family gains added capability with its all stainless steel housing that withstands the corrosive atmospheres often experienced in chemical plants, pulp and paper mills, as well as near-shore and offshore oil and gas installations.

All DVC6200 series instruments utilize a patented linkage-less, non-contact feedback design to detect valve position. This valve positioning technology eliminates any travel feedback issues caused by corrosion, high cycle or high vibration applications.

In addition to external protection, corrosion resistance is found within the stainless steel housing with the digital controller’s fully encapsulated printed wiring boards. Internal component protection is further enhanced by a separate, weather-tight field wiring terminal box that isolates the field wiring connection from other areas of the instrument.
