With the Sipart PS100, Siemens is presenting a new positioner that is impressively easy to commission and highly robust. The Sipart PS100 can be initialized quickly at the touch of a button, automatically adjusting itself to the attached valve. If required, it is possible to optimize the positioner for a specific application with just one further touch of a button. Just as some cameras feature portrait, sport or night mode, the positioner can be set to different modes for precise and fast adjustment, open/close operation and other applications. These functionalities save time, cut the costs of commissioning, and increase the return on investment.

The Sipart PS100 is fitted with a large, easy-to-read display that allows users to see the status of the device at a glance. With its four-button operation and Namur NE107 support, the device can be configured quickly and conveniently.

The Sipart PS100 is available in two enclosure variants: polycarbonate and aluminum. Thanks to these particularly robust and durable materials, the new addition to the Siemens positioner portfolio is capable of withstanding extremely harsh and aggressive environments. The Sipart PS100 uses state-of-the-art contactless technology to detect the position of the valve. This eliminates wear, extending the device's service life and facilitating easier, faster commissioning.

The Sipart PS2, an established element of the Siemens positioner portfolio, has gained some new features. Optional pressure sensors improve the valve diagnostics and process monitoring, increasing the degree of utilization and availability of the plant. The enhanced positioner supports digitalization in plants. The Siemens valve monitoring app provides users with all the information they need to follow a predictive maintenance approach by performing cloud-based analyses of valve data. It makes extensive control and analysis options available to users so that they can detect in good time when service tasks need to be carried out before potential faults occur. In this way, the use of the valve monitoring app makes it possible to cut maintenance and operating costs.

Val Matic VaultSafeVal-Matic’s VaultSafe Family of Products are designed to protect potable water systems from contaminated flood waters, freezing temperatures and intentional harmful contamination. The VaultSafe Family consists of the FloodSafe Inflow Preventer, the FrostSafe air damper and the VentSafe vent pipe security cage. The FloodSafe prevents contaminated water from passing through it thus preventing it from entering the air valve outlet and compromising the potable water system with its dual chambers and float checks. The FrostSafe minimizes the thermal exchange of cold and warm air in and out of a vault to help prevent freezing with a bi-directional hingeless disc and wafer design. The VentSafe safe guards vent pipes against the hazards of nesting animals and intentional harmful activities because of its hemispherical screened security cage.

Garlock: ABRA-SHIELD Expansion Joint Liner Material

Garlock ABRA SHIELDGarlock has launched ABRA-SHIELD, a proprietary expansion joint liner material designed for abrasion resistance and sustainability in demanding high temperature operating conditions.

ABRA-SHIELD will be an option for use with a number of expansion joint products that Garlock offers – including styles 204, 206, 7250, 8400 and 9394. These uniquely constructed joints also provide high levels of protection from stress, misalignment, vibration, noise, shock and corrosion.

Media type and temperature play a significant role in the selection process of an expansion joint liner material. The specialty formulated hydrogenated nitrile butadiene rubber used in ABRA-SHIELD performs significantly better than common abrasion resistant solutions, with an operating temperature range up to 300°F.

In abrasion resistance testing – which provides data to compare materials and predict the lifetime of a material or coating – ABRA-SHIELD provided 50% higher abrasion resistance than standard EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer rubber). ABRA-SHIELD will be the recommended solution in abrasive applications (such as slurry, ash and brine) with sustained or spiked temperatures between 180°F and 300°F. For temperatures outside of this range, other materials in Garlock's family of abrasion resistant expansion joints would be suggested.

Chesterton: ViewIn Technology for Mechanical Seals

Chesterton ViewIn Technology for Mechanical SealsA.W. Chesterton Company is pleased to introduce their latest mechanical seal innovation: Chesterton ViewIn Technology, which greatly facilitates seal identification and maintenance.

Each ViewIn-enabled Chesterton seal is equipped with RFID tags that can be read using a Bluetooth-connected RFID reader to retrieve pertinent seal information, sealing device drawings, pressure test reports, materials of construction, and supplementary items. The new technology is initially available in Chesterton’s S10 and S20 Cassette Seals effective October 1, 2018.

“ViewIn provides a new level of efficiency in seal management,” says Steven Bullen, Global Product Line Manager, Chesterton Global Marketing. “This new Chesterton technology will greatly facilitate seal/pump maintenance by allowing personnel to access relevant seal information immediately, when they need it ̶ even when equipment is running.”
