Spirax Sarco VLM20 Inline Vortex Mass FlowmeterSpirax Sarco announces the rebranding of the VLM10 Inline Vortex Flowmeter to VLM20. The VLM20 utilizes a common electronics platform that is now available in all the new 20 Series Meters to improve reliability and ease of use across the product line. The VLM20 utilizes a SMART multivariable transmitter with integral temperature and pressure sensor giving users an elegant all in one solution for their measurement needs. A precision 1000 Ohm RTD and absolute pressure sensor are used to calculate density for mass flow and thermal energy flow from chilled, hot water and condensate return system.

The VLM20 is precise and reliable with a steam or gas mass flow accuracy of ± 1.5% of rate over a wide 30:1 flow range. Digital communications deliver real-time calculations of density, temperature, pressure, mass and thermal energy flow using Modbus RTU, BACnet® MS/TP and HART® communications in addition to the standard analog, pulse and relay outputs.

The VLM20 is available in line sizes ½" to 12" with flange ratings up to 600lb. ANSI. Wafer connections are also available from ½" – 4". Wetted material includes carbon steel and 316L stainless steel.

ASCO: Zoned Safety Capabilities in Numatics 503 Series Valve Manifold

ASCO Manifold Zoned SafetyASCO has introduced the capability to integrate multiple safety zones within a single Numatics 503 Series valve manifold. This new zoned safety approach helps the design engineer satisfy the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC and comply with ISO 13849-1 while eliminating the components and complexity found in discrete safety circuits.

The zoned safety concept is an integrated approach to machine safety and control that greatly simplifies the design of a redundant pneumatic safety circuit with a manifold system. The Numatics 503 Series can create up to three independent electro-pneumatic safety zones, while also allowing independent non-safe sections to co-exist within one manifold assembly. The operator does not have to shut down the entire machine by releasing compressed air with a redundant safety/control dump valve. Instead, the Numatics 503 Series valve manifold can be configured to shut down air and power only to the group of valves that controls the machine’s motion in the operator’s vicinity.
