API Issues Statement in Support of The Build It In America Act

Tax reforms will encourage investment and strengthen energy leadership

American Petroleum Institute (API) executive vice president and chief advocacy officer Amanda Eversole released the following statement today urging House Ways and Means Committee members to support H.R. 3938, the Build It In America Act. The bill would amend the tax code to help U.S. oil and natural gas companies unleash economic growth in our nation, create jobs and spur investment to strengthen American energy leadership.

“API applauds Chairman Smith’s dedication to ensuring the tax code allows U.S. companies to remain competitive in global markets. This legislation will give America the tools necessary for continued domestic investment, economic growth and innovation, and allows our industry to produce the U.S. energy American consumers and people around the world rely on."

API represents all segments of America’s natural gas and oil industry, which supports nearly 11 million U.S. jobs and is backed by a growing grassroots movement of millions of Americans. Our approximately 600 members produce, process and distribute the majority of the nation’s energy, and participate in API Energy Excellence, which is accelerating environmental and safety progress by fostering new technologies and transparent reporting. API was formed in 1919 as a standards-setting organization and has developed more than 800 standards to enhance operational and environmental safety, efficiency and sustainability.
