A whistle installed gives a shrill noise indication when valve is leaking. A whistle is installed in the device to give a shrill noise indication in the event that the relief valve is leaking.
In the event of a system upset the valve opens to relieve excess pressure, the device is discharged from the vent pipe. The strong nylon tether assures that the EPD will remain with the valve.
Pressure above 2.0 oz. per sq in will cause the whistle to activate and pressures above 4.0 oz. per sq in will cause the device to discharge from the pipe.
