Pentair Valves & Control’s pilot-operated pressure relief valve, the Anderson Greenwood 5200, is designed to withstand the high temperatures and pressures that are prevalent in heat-recovery steam generators in combined cycle power plants.
The 5200 has a metal main valve seat, as opposed to the resilient seat commonly used in pilot-operated pressure relief valves. The metal seat allows the valves to withstand higher temperatures up to 1000 F. In addition, the 5200 is a modulating pilot-operated valve, rather than a spring-loaded or snap acting pilot valve. This feature enables the valve to open in proportion to the specific overpressure needed while providing maximum tightness during the critical start-up processes and allows the valve to operate closer to set pressure without leakage. Tyco Flow Control developed this pressure relief valve to serve specifically as a safety valve in economizer applications in gas-fired power plants.
These valves meet the stringent code requirements of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).
